SAF

The Swiss Group for the Study of Coin Finds (SAF/GSETM/GSSRM), which was founded in 1985, brings together numismatists, archaeologists and historians, who are specialists in coin finds that originate from the existing territory of Switzerland and from its neighbouring regions.

The Swiss Group for the Study of Coin Finds promotes exchanges of information and encourages interdisciplinary contacts. It works together with Swiss Archaeology, the Swiss Inventory of Coin Finds and the Swiss Numismatic Society.

Today, the Swiss Group for the Study of Coin Finds has almost 50 members. During the Annual General Meeting and the Annual Colloquium, which take place every year in March, communications about excavations and ongoing research are presented; international colloquia are organised every three or four years, featuring a large number of lectures about a special topic.

To become a member, it is necessary to be carrying out scientific activities in the field of study of coin finds. Applications for new memberships are proposed to the committee by a member and accepted by the Annual General Meeting. The members are requested to keep the Swiss Group for the Study of Coin Finds informed about their current work and their projects.

Next meeting: March 14, 2025, in Schaffhausen
